This is the last issue of JLA as we know, as well as the last of the six part storyline “World Without A Justice League.”

Green Arrow, possessed by Envy, who is one of the Seven Deadly Sins set free when the Rock of Eternity was destroyed by the Spectre, attacks Batman and the battle that he and Batman had sought with the mad telepath The Key is interrupted.

But The Key is disturbed by this demon Envy and seeks to free himself and the heroes of his presence. He succeeds and then the battle eventually returns to him. But all the key wants is to be free of the voices. Batman wants something more, which is apparently vengeance according to Manitou Dawn.

With the assistance of Black Canary and Manitou Dawn Batman succeeds in overcoming The Key. Batman wants to take him back to Arkham Asylum, but Dawn wants justice meted out by helping the key to silence his voices. As Batman is distracted by conversation with Green Arrow, Dawn takes her chance and sends The Key to eternity in the Astral Plane. Batman, shaken by this, seemingly because he didn’t get his way and he is not convinced that The Key is gone for good.

As Batman walks away Green Arrow makes the statement to Batman “You needed Dinah and Dawn to defeat The Key.” Batman tells GA to give it up as the JLA is finished.

The Key narrates the story from the Astral Plane where Raven and Martian Manhunter are conferring with Dawn. Raven’s spirit assures Dawn that he will always love her. The Key says this is the end of his story but he feels that it is just the beginning for the JLA. On the very last page of the story it shows several JLA headquarters from different multiverses. Then at the end of the book where it usually summarizes the plot of the next issue it states, “There will be no JLA# 126…as there IS no JLA at this time. To monitor the fate of the individual leaguers-and indeed, the fate of several earths…we humbly suggest you join the INFINITE CRISIS (already in progress).
