The art in this issue was great but I felt that the storyline was excellent. This was both a great issue prominently tie-ing into Infinite Crisis. It was great to see all the JSA together again on Earth One along with the Earth Two Wonder Woman all working together. This issue portends to be part of a three-part mini-series within the Infinite Crisis series that will tell the story of Earths 2 Superman Kal-l and how he became Earth 2’s greatest hero.
The story also ties in with our Earth One Superman Kal-el and of course Lois Lane.
The story also shows how the Earth Two Superman aiding the JSA during World War II tried to stop WWII but was thwarted by the Spear of Destiny, an occult object of control at that time held by Hitler and Nazi Germany. The Spear of Destiny has been reintroduced most recently in JSA Classified with someone evil again controlling it and bent on destroying the JSA starting with The Flash – Jay Garrick and Wildcat. There are many panels showing the origin of Kal-l and his history with the JSA during World War II and the 1950’s.
At the end of the story Lois Lane of Earth 1 (although the story has been told mostly as if narrated by the Earth 2 Lois Lane) wishes Superman luck in fixing everything and that she believes in him and loves him. In the last panel of the story it shows several alternative Lois Lanes from various multiverse earths, also supposedly wishing Superman the same thing.
This is a great story and unfortunately I have to wait to see it continued in Action #836.
